What is S.A.V.Y?
S.A.V.Y is a national nonprofit agency that partners with middle schools
and high schools and offers after school programs for teen girls.
These after-school sessions, known as Inspire Me Girl Empowerment
sessions aid girls in skills building and positive self esteem
and allows them to express themselves, learn, have fun and build positive
relationships within their girl groups.
What Programs are
offered?
S.A.V.Ys Inspire Me to Excellence model, provides partnering
schools sites with 21 weeks of curriculum sessions. Each week girls
engage in fun activities and informative discussions about girls
issues and life in general. Sessions are lead by a group leader of
the schools choosing.
Why gender specific
programming?
Young women need information and skills that address their specific
concerns and needs. Girls need opportunities to participate in effective
programs to avoid unintended pregnancy, school dropout, STDs
etc. Girls need to know they have options and that they can realize
their potential. Gender specific programs also aid girls in boosting
their confidence and self esteem which ultimately help girls make
healthy choices while journeying to adulthood.
What is the Inspire
Me To ExcellenceTM initiative?
The initiative corresponds with S.A.V.Ys mission. So many girls
lack motivation and accept mediocrity for a myriad of reasons which
affects every area of their lives. The danger is that all too often
it carries into their adult lives.
The Inspire Me To Excellence
initiative is really a reinforcement of the organizations view of
girls and how our girls are being cultivated in all areas through
our program and enriching curriculum exercises.
Do student participants
pay?
